Recently we have seen accusations of deception and name-calling in the Brexit debate, of negative campaigning in the last London mayoral election, and of unrestrained personal attacks in US politics. Does such behaviour fall short of an ethical standard for\u00a0public discussion, or is it an\u00a0essential\u00a0feature of\u00a0political\u00a0life?
